PPP plans to say goodbye to reconciliation policy

LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has finalised its plan to end the “reconciliation policy” and a formal decision will be taken in the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting next month. PPP leaders told Daily Times that they had strengthened democracy and parliament by giving sacrifices in the elections in 2008 and 2013 but now the time has come to confront their opponents, especially the Sharifs. They said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had called a CEC meeting on April 4 in which they are likely to endorse the decision of bringing an end to the reconciliation policy in a greater interest of the party and its workers. PPP CEC Member Aurangzeb Barki said that it was true that his party was ready to end the reconciliation policy as it was against the nature of the Bhuttos’ followers who only wanted to oppose every bad, evil and unprogressive elements in the society. Earlier, Barki flanked with Azizur Rehman Chan and Abdul Qadir Shaheen addressed a press conference at Lahore Press Club. They said that prominent central leaders and provincial leaders would contest elections from Lahore to give the Sharifs a real hard time. To a question about the Panamagate, Barki said that it was the biggest scam in the history of Pakistan and the PPP would oppose it at every level. The PPP leadership also criticised the Sharifs governance in the centre as well as in Punjab, saying that due to poor foreign policies, Afghanistan, Iran, India and America are angry with Pakistan. They said further corruption was rampant under the nose of Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif. Barki added that under the leadership of Zardari and Bilawal, PPP would secure more seats in Punjab.
