ISLAMABAD: The Panama Leaks case hearing continued on Wednesday headed by a five-member bench led by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.
Nawaz Sharif’s lead counsel Makhdoom Ali Khan continued with his arguments to defend t
he allegations put against the prime minister. He said that the prime minister’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, was not his depe
ndent. Makhdoom told the jury that the prime minister had given gifts to Maryam Nawaz through a bank. He added that Nawaz had made money transfers to
his other children’s accounts also via a bank.
The prime minister’s lawyer put f
orth the argument that tax is paid on gifts, and informed
the court that Hussain Nawaz Sharif’s NTN was part of the evidence provided to
the court.
During the last proceedings, Makhdoom had argued in
the court that Nawaz Sharif’s speech in the parliament could not be used as evidence in
the case.
